Hypersurealist sculpture-based, Maurizio Cattelan, knows how to make a statement. What that statement is…well…I’m not sure. Described as being a modern day Duchamp, Cattelan takes a jab at the seriousness of the modern art world. Within all of his installations there seems to be a well hidden smirk directed at anyone staunchy enough not to be having fun.
He is featured at the Menil Museum from February 12–August 15, 2010.
The museum is free to all visitors.

This is way of showing how he feels about law enforcement and the governmental system
"La Nona Ora" consists of an effigy of Pope John Paul II in full ceremonial dress being crushed by a meteor and is a good example of his typically humorous approach to work.
Cattelan chooses the most ancient tree of the city to transform this collective hallucination in a realistic representation. as for magic, like in a medieval tale, three children hang on a tree and watch the truth with their eyes wide open

Very interesting wonder how long it takes him to complete a project, very detailed.
really good stuff.. didn't know his stuff was in town... A definite must see. Saw some of his sculptures on kanye's blog a while back.
